Fundamental Values
The Erasmus School of Primary Education offers a unique
education founded on the principles of classical philosophy and the
great spiritual teachings of East and West.
At Erasmus School we believe that a balanced education
brings harmony to body, mind and spirit. It is perfectly natural
for a child to be happy and confident and a true education draws
out these qualities. We aim to bring out the best in a child and
build character of integrity, strength and clarity. The education
offered at Erasmus School builds the foundations for
scholarship and good citizenship, and fosters a love of truth and
justice.
This is brought about through:
- loving discipline
- physical education and service
- careful and systematic study
- spiritual nourishment
Discipline builds respect for oneself and others, careful
habits and an orderly school environment. Love provides security
and confidence.
Physical training develops natural movement and healthy
bodies, while team games bring out courage, co-operation and
stamina.
Careful, regular and systematic study brings order and
clarity to the mind. A child need never be confused or uncertain
about subjects.
Spiritual nourishment through daily prayer, singing of
sacred music, reading and recitation of scripture and fine
literature nourish the soul and bring harmony to body, mind and
spirit.
‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your
good works,
And glorify your Father which is in heaven’ - Matthew 5, 16 |
